About Peoples-Praxis

Peoples-Praxis is established in the UK, Registered Charity Number 1197471. We support graduates in Public Health and related fields to extend and apply their skills through practice-based experiential mentoring.

Who we are

Supporting public health practice

Peoples-Praxis is registered in England and Wales (charity number 1197471). We work with public health practitioners, mentors, trustees, volunteers, and partner organisations to strengthen applied public health practice — especially for practitioners serving low-to-middle-income countries.

What we do is practical and accessible. We connect early-career researchers and practitioners with experienced mentors for free 1:1 remote mentoring, share free courses and reflective resources, and build partnerships with universities, professional bodies, and networks committed to global public health equity.

For public health practitioners in low-to-middle-income countries, our mentoring is free — our aim is simply to help them turn knowledge into real-world impact.

Hannah Patrick

Chair, Trustee

Hannah Patrick is a consultant in public health, educational supervisor and diplomat examiner for the Faculty of Public Health UK, and specialist clinical hematologist in South East London. She came to Peoples-Praxis through her work as a tutor on the People’s Open Access Education Initiative (https://www.peoples-uni.org/)

Richard Heller

Trustee

Richard Heller, Emeritus Professor of Medicine, University of Newcastle, Australia and of Public Health, University of Manchester, UK, was also the founder and coordinator of the People’s Open Access Education Initiative (https://www.peoples-uni.org/) for global Public Health capacity building. His latest open access book is titled Distributing Knowledge: Openness, Equity, and Higher Education Transformation.

Helen Crawley

Trustee

Retired GP based in the UK. She has worked in clinical education from undergraduate to postgraduate level across medicine, nursing and allied health professions. Her current interest is remote mentoring in global health partnerships. Helen is also chair of HESG, a charity working to advance health in the UK and Low to Middle Income Countries, in particular by providing and facilitating education, training and mentoring to health workers.

Nick Osborne

Trustee

Associate Professor of epidemiology at University of Queensland. His specialist interests are public health, allergy, toxicology and cyanobacteria.

Perihan Torun

Steering group

Assoc. Prof. of Public Health at İstanbul Medipol University, specialising in epidemiology. As a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), her interests in teaching include online teaching models and educational programme development and evaluation.

Taher Ali Qassim MBE

Steering group

Taher Qassim is a retired health practitioner. He has worked in public health in the UK and Yemen throughout his career. His current interest is to support individuals, specifically in Yemen and elsewhere, who intend or plan to further their public health career through remote mentoring in partnership with other global health organisations.

Melusi Ndebele

Steering group

Melusi is a Public Health Practitioner in the North Northamptonshire Council (UK). His passion is for improving health and reducing health inequalities. He provides engaging leadership for partnership projects and has experience of working in private and public sectors, developing and managing award-winning individuals and teams..
